Adding Your First User
Congratulations on setting up your first Baskt bucket! Now it’s time to create a user who can access and transfer files to and from this bucket via SFTP. This guide will walk you through the process step-by-step.
What is a Baskt User?
In Baskt, a user represents an entity (a person or an application) that can connect to your bucket through the SFTP protocol. Once you add a user, they will be able to log in via SFTP with their credentials and manage files within their designated home directory.
Creating a User
- Navigate to your bucket’s page
- Click on the “Create my first user” button
- Fill out the form with your user’s details (username, password)
- Specify a “home” directory for the user
- This directory acts as the user’s root. They will be unable to navigate or access files outside of this directory.
- Restricting users to their home directory ensures they only have access to the files they need, enhancing security and privacy.
- You can leave this field blank to grant the user full access to the entire bucket.
- Click “Create user”
And there you have it! Your first user is now set up and ready to start transferring files.
Next Steps
Your SFTP server is now fully operational. In the next guide, we’ll explore how your users can connect to the server and start managing their files.
